“Bad Tape is software for editing sound-recording on different platforms. It can be used on your computer with mouse and keyboard, virtual instruments like Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, Ableton Live and more.” This plugin is a tool for enhancing the frequencies of sounds that are captured in audio files. After some exploring into the plugin's developer website, I found out that this plugin was developed by Chris Gocha in an effort to learn how to code under professional conditions! With this plugin being so easy to use it makes sense why Chris was able to move on from his apprenticeship. Initially Bad Tape was used to edit audio produced by a MIDI-driven sampler, as Gocha was learning to code, as he says on his website: "I was looking for a way to edit the MIDI part of my score, and I found myself constantly clicking around, trying to find the right parameters." So by modifying the MIDI production of his original soundtrack, Gocha could create new arrangements and instantly hear how those alterations would sound. The concept of Bad Tape came about as a result of this experimentation: "I wanted something that would measure and quantize audio files cleanly. I found that it could also cut frequencies by quantizing them below their default quantization threshold... I knew it would be a powerful tool." I can see Bad Tape being used and possibly modified in the future and put to use in the creation of electronic dance music. Although, currently the plugin only works with sound files. It is advertised as an editable version of a tape recorder, which means if you wanted to have some sort of tape reverb you would have to record your audio on tape first, import it into Bad Tape, apply some sort of "tape effect" via plugin manipulation, then mix that with your original sound file. Chris Gocha has hinted that this feature is upcoming, which makes me wonder how it might look if applied to more than just audio production. https://www.bad-tape.com/ http://www.acousticsounddesign.com/tutorials/dubstep-basses/#bad_tape_vst http://www.decemberaudioandvideo.com/2017/04/bad-tape-plugin-and-guide-to-vst3.html https://freesound.org/people/hollywoodedgeuk/sounds/294872 https://soundcloud.com/deniseaudio https://www.youtube. com/channel/UCUQQfvX4wTHupg2cXt54_Xw https://soundcloud.com/deniseaudio https://soundcloud.com/deniseaudio https://soundcloud.com/deniseaudio https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUQQfvX4wTHupg2cXt54_Xw https://www.instagram.com/denisemusicworkstation/?hl=en https://twitter.com/DeniseMusicWS https://www.artstation. eccc085e13
